HANTÉES PODCAST

Capturing the essence of a podcast like Hantées—a show that thrives on suspense and eerie storytelling—comes with its own set of challenges. For Season 4, photographer Rémi took on the task of crafting images that would visually translate the chilling essence of Hantées into a series of narrative-driven photographs.

This is Rémi’s family’s favorite podcast, so he was deeply familiar with the show’s tone and storytelling. The initial plan was to photograph key locations mentioned in the podcast, such as Domaine Mackenzie King, the Carbide Ruins, the Hydro Dam in Cantley, and Anges Gardien. However, these locations presented logistical challenges—many were closed to the public, difficult to access at night, or required special permissions. One evening, while shooting in Gatineau Park, Rémi nearly got locked in while trying to capture the shot.

Ultimately, the team pivoted to shooting around Rémi’s home in Chelsea, QC. This decision allowed for a more controlled environment where the focus could shift from literal location recreation to building an evocative visual narrative inspired by the season's themes. The primary goal became crafting a cohesive visual language that embodied the eerie, immersive world of Hantées. The final images draw from shadowy light, desaturated tones, and a cinematic approach to composition—creating a sense of mystery, unease, and quiet suspense, much like the podcast itself.
